Why you need to stop getting a Manicure?

"... Giving your nails time to
breathe is essential..."
Let us guess... your nails have weird streaky lines, white spots, and crack easily. You probably get a manicure every 1-2 weeks because you think "They're just nails! They can't get damaged."

You poor, lost soul.

And yet... Line Spa is here to save the day once more by telling you to STOP getting your nails done. At least for now. Giving your nails the time to breathe is essential to their longevity.

But sometimes... We can't help ourselves,  "they're just so much more beautiful when painted" you might think to yourself. That's okay.

Because Japanese Manicures exist! What's a Japanese Manicure you
may ask?

The ridges on your nails can be caused by
vitamin deficiency
The entire premise for Japanese Nail Care is to help heal weakened, and damaged nails to their natural glory!

Although you'll see immediate results, you'll need several Japanese Manicures to ensure that your nails becomes smooth, firm, and elastic to get a healthy pink shade and natural shine.

It's amazing how much your nails can reveal about your overall health. If you haven't yet read it, we have an intriguing article about what the color of your nails say about your health.

If you haven't, here's the gist of it... Yellow means infection or reaction, White Lines mean Vitamin Deficiency, and Black Lines mean Traumatic damage.

In any case, having any of these can be an early sign to your overall health. Japanese Manicures help solve these problems by using a variety of tools and vitamin packed ingredients to turn back time and restore them back to their natural beauty!

So, what's the process?

Before they start, The Nail Technician first assesses your nails of any cracks, coloration, or any other signs of nail damage.

All of the ingredients that are being used during the Japanese manicure are made from natural materials. The tools that are used are ceramic nail files, calfskin polishing units, and orange tree sticks. The disinfectants, oils, and creams are also made with natural ingredients. (Please note, there are Vegan versions that we will cover later).

The next step is cleaning up your cuticles. It's an important step, as cutting too much cuticles can trap bacteria, and not cutting enough makes the polish vulnerable to peeling. It's a delicate balance, but before we cut anything, it's important to soften them first. To do this, the technician  uses a mixture of Aloe Vera, Olive Oil, and a mixture of Vitamin A, C, D, and E.

After softening your cuticles and cutting them, the next step is the reason why Japanese Manicures are so different. Applying your  nails with natural mineral paste is meant to strengthen your nailbed. As well as giving them enough nutrients to grow faster and stronger. Made with Seaweed, Beeswax, and several oils such as Jojoba, Bamboo, Ylang-ylang and more.

The paste is then buffed into your nailbed. Finally, after the nail technician who has high standards has confirmed that your nails are perfect, it's time to seal all those nutrients in. This is done with a polishing film that protects and achieves a perfect smoothness. Typically, the protective film is made with pearl powder and Ginseng.

Every aspect of your next Japanese Nail service is done with Natural Ingredients, and for you vegan folks out there, we've got some alternatives for you!

Instead of using Beeswax, and calfskin leather, try using Soywax and a high nail buffer. Soywax is great for your nails and skin, because they're a great retainer of Vitamin E and provide moisturizing relief for skin conditions such as psoriasis, and eczema. Fun fact, it also has collagen and elastin that keeps your skin looking bright and smooth.

So next time your nails are looking thin, or unhealthy, it may be worth your time to check out your nearest Japanese Nail Salon. Luckily, for you Vancouver, Canada folks out there reading this, Line Spa and Polish is providing all their clients with FREE upgrades to make your next Manicure or Pedicure Japanese Style.
