4 tips to get healthier feet for summer (by a nail technician)

Guess what Vancouver, it's almost time for boat and beach season! As a Nail Studio we know exactly how daunting it can be having damaged feet, and letting other people see your feet bare. Especially if you work a heavy duty job and your feet are jailed inside heavy boots and thick socks.

"we're on our feet for most of the day, why not invest in their health?"

Dead skin cells, heavy calluses  hey, it happens to the best of us. Luckily, there are simple solutions to make sure they're naturally beautiful; as a Health focused Nail Studio, our philosophy has always been to ensure that you feel confident in your nails and skin!

Here are a few of our tips in order to make sure your nails and skin stay healthy year round!

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

I know, we're starting to sound like a broken record, but moisturizing really is the best way to make sure your feet stay healthy! In fact, the skin around your feet has 10x the layers around the rest of your skin! After all, we're on our feet for most of the day, why not invest in their health?

Your feet, much like your face needs specific moisturizers. Dry feet moisturizers, Rough heel repair, callus repair, deep cleansing, and even oils!

Most podiatrists will suggest using a foot moisturizer that is non-greasy,  noncomedogenic, and Anti-Microbial. Luckily, all of these are properties in our Post Pedicure Moisturizer: Mangifera.

Tend to your cuticles

The skin of your feet are not the only important parts of your feet! Making sure that your nails are maintained on a regular basis is an integral step in their health.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't actually need to cut your cuticles. Pushing your nails back with cuticle remover and a cuticle pusher is definitely more than enough.

First, soak your nails in some water, and Put 2 droplets of your favorite cuticle remover on to your nails. Then, you're gonna push the cuticles back toward your skin. Repeat for all your nails on a  monthly basis and you've got yourself healthy nails!

Use a cuticle oil

Making sure your nails have the nutrients they need to grow healthier is a constant challenge, and Nail Technicians can only do so much in a single appointment. walking around in stuffy shoes can be quite bad for your nails as they require constant breathability.

The best thing you can do for them is by putting a drop of your favorite cuticle oil on them on a regular basis (We suggest each day, but once a week will transform your nails for the better).

Don't know what works? Inspired by Japanese Nail Care, our cuticle oil: Rosa strengthens your nails and corrects them so you don't have to spend more time at the nail salon.

Don't know what to start with? Get professional help!

No, we don't mean that kind of professional help. We mean going to the Nail Salon, getting your nails done all pretty, and asking them questions about what products to use! Most nail technicians are passionate about their work and would be happy to nerd out on nails with you.

Finding a nail salon that fits your needs can be a little tough especially since most nail salons use toxic products. Our suggestion is to find one that promotes nail health as they will focus on this more than anything else.

At Line Spa and Polish, our focus is not only to make your skin and nails healthier, but to also use Vegan, Sustainable, Non-toxic products! That's why we developed our own Nail Care Process in order to make them as healthy as possible.
